JIMENA
Visual History Project

The JIMENA Visual History Project aims to collect as many video testimonies of former Jewish refugees from the Middle East and North Africa as possible. This group is part of an aging population and we must ensure that their history be properly documented before it is too late. The testimonies will be used to expand JIMENA’s archives and will be incorporated into an interactive, educational website that is currently under construction. We are working closely with national and international Universities and Museums to make this program as far reaching and effective as possible.

Mizrahi and Sephardi stories of trauma and flight have not been properly documented and archived and there exists a real danger of their history and indigenous culture being forgotten and permanently excluded from historical narratives!
